More Information: Iron is the most abundant element in the outer layer of the earth's crust in nature, mostly seen as oxides and sulfur. The source of iron in the earth's crust is molten material in the earth, which is widely formed by subtraction in the main stage of magma crystallization, or in other stages, such as the crystallization of hot melt solutions, known as the hydrothermal phase, with the formation of sedimentary deposits. . The most important iron deposits are found in nature in the form of magnetite, hematite, martite, limonite, pyrite, siderite and marcasite in nature.
Industrially, the most important iron ores mined for iron metal are magnetite and hematite. At present, more than two billion tons of iron ore are extracted annually from the world's mines and converted into steel in steel mills. The most important exporters of iron ore in the world are Australia and Brazil, which each export more than 200 million tons of iron ore annually.
In Iran, currently about 18 million tons of iron ore is extracted annually from Chadormelo, Gol Gohar, Markazi and small private iron ore mines and used by the country's steelmaking units. The most important domestic consumers of iron ore in the country are Isfahan Steel, Mobarakeh Steel and Ahvaz Steel. Part of the iron ore produced in the country (about 3 million tons per year) is also exported.
Due to its rich iron ore mines, Bafgh region has received more attention from the government, officials and private sector investors in recent years.
According to studies, about 35 iron anomalies with a reserve of 1.7 billion tons of iron ore have been identified and explored in this area. The most important iron ore deposits of Bafgh block are Chadormelo, Choghart, Chah-e-Gaz, North anomaly, D19 anomaly, Mishdvan and Shitor iron ores.
