More Information: Shifa Pharmed Industrial Group (Previously name as Shafa-e Sari) Company is a joint-stock and 100% private company in the field of biotechnology . The company was founded in 1995 in an area measuring 230,000 square meters with the aim of producing 300 tons of vari¬ous antibiotics. Erythromycin Base, as a parent molecule is used for production of Macrolide Antibiotics group including Erythromycin Ethyl Succinate, Azithromycin, Clarithromycin and Roxithromycin. In 1999, simultaneous with the basic changes in the company structure in order to finance the projects partly and to start the practical production of the antibiotics, the design and construction of Erythromycin Ethyl Succinate production line from Erythromycin Base was started with the manufacturing capacity of 100 MT per year and had been in operation since 2000.
This line has been improved continuously through application of the latest technologies to produce a world-class product. At the next stage, the company operated a new line to produce Azithromycin out of Erythromycin Base at 80 MT capacity in 2006 and at the same time the study and research on production of Clarithromycin with a capacity of 40 MT was started and it has become operational from beginning of 2008. At the beginning of 2007, Shifa managed to produce 300 MT Erythromycin Base annually.
In this respect, all the products have the official approval from Ministry of Health and Medical Education and are produced with the latest guidelines of cGMP. Our highly equipped labratory has also obtained GLP certificate from MOH Drug & Food Control Laboratories department in 2006. We have also obtained ISO 9001-2000 in management, design, development and production of biotechnological products. Furthemore, an important event in the history of Shifa happened. By receiving Halal certificate from special body in the organization of Islamic conference (ICRIC); this company is the first factory who is producing Halal antibiotics, this is the result of an extensive research of one decade to replace rapseed oil instead of Lard oil in the fermentation process. In addition, our products are in conformity with the latest USP (United State Pharmacopeia) and/or BP (British Pharmacopeia) and EP ( European Pharmacopeia Stadards).
