More Information: The major transformation and changes in urbanization and urban development system has led to sort of disorder in the spatial-functional organization of cities, especially metropolises. Since the 1960s, they have made major changes in the organizational structure of the cities and faced the residents of vast areas in the cities with special problems. In order to anticipate, prevent and address the mentioned problems, and with the mission of urban revitalization and achieve a sustainable and participatory city, Urban Development and Revitalization Organization (UDRO) of the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development (MRUD) was established officially according to stipulation of the then Cabinet of 1997. UDRO started its activities in the framework of a company with 7 regional subsidiaries. In July 2004, the Guardian Council of the constitution, confirmed the decision of the then Board of Ministers to modify the company’s article of Association as a parent (holding) company.
